Meditation: easy way to lose weight and fight Obesity

E-mail Print PDF

According to the author and celebrity yoga trainer Subodh Gupta, meditation is an easy way to lose weight and fight Obesity.

Subodh

Meditation practice can act as a effective tool for losing weight and fight against obesity. The most important reason people fail to lose weight is simply because of the lack of will power or lack of determination.

Meditation can help to stay determined and balanced so that one can reach his/her weight-loss goals.  All our physical actions begin as a thought in our mind first and when strong enough then only transform into physical activity.

If you think that junk food is making your waistline bigger and you want to stop eating it, you first have to make a decision to change your eating habits which is again at your mental level.

Most people ended up eating extra while multitasking. Ideally we should eat when we're hungry and stop as we're full, however since we are not aware in our daily life we ended up eating more. For example eating pop corn while watching movie or eating food while watching tv, etc.

With regular meditation practice one become more aware of every action one perform in his or her own life which results in reducing food cravings and help with portion control.

Nowadays many supermodels and actors such as Supermodel Gisele Bundchen practice meditation regularly.

Eating with awareness is not about  calorie counting but being aware when and what our body needs and than feed it accordingly. One can begin with at least 15 minutes meditation each day. After meditation one can feel more balanced and calm.  Meditation will bring the right mindset and living a healthy life will become your natural choice, effortlessly.

In the 8 steps yoga system, 3rd step is known as hatha yoga or popularly misunderstood as yoga which is practiced to keep body healthy so that one can sit easily for longer period of time in meditation, however performing it naked doesn't give any special benefits".

According to author and celebrity yoga trainer Subodh Gupta yoga should be compulsory in the UK schools to fight obesity.

Subodh gupta

Child obesity is growing all over the world. Despite obesity increasing, somehow the government all over the world and the public remain unaware of the severity of the problem.

There are large parts of the world where people are dying of hunger or less food and then there are people suffering because of excess food. It seems that somehow there are more people in trouble because of excess rather than not having them in the first place,  it seems at least in the case child obesity.

The most common cause of child obesity is the junk food and less mobility.

In the UK, government has left the issue to the food companies to sort out who perhaps are the main culprits in the first place.

Child obesity leads to poor health, with breathing difficulties. Obese children may also bring another burden for parents, family and in large perspective to the whole society and nation.

They need special diets and frequent consultation with doctors. Their confidence level also goes down.

There is a urgent need to educate parents about the ill effects of obesity who in effect can educate their children to get rid of this modern day lifestyle disease once and for all.

Unless we bring moderation in our life extremity always brings problems.  To fight growing obesity among children, some of the schools in the UK have introduced yoga for thousands of young students. Similarly in India chief minister of Madhya Pradesh state has made yoga complusory in all the schools.

This is an excellent step in the direction of fighting the obesity problem in the UK. Yoga practice provides an excellent means for maintaining balanced weight and overcoming obesity problem, provided a daily yoga program is followed with regular routine according to Subodh Gupta Yoga expert based in London.

Gentle yoga asana (postures) followed by Sun salutation exercise are very good for removing blockages and librating  pranic energy in our body and helpful in revitalizing the body and mind.

Weight loss surgery destroy obese patients life

Obesity Campaign UK: Weight loss surgery destroy obese patients life

Barbara Tomasik

weight loss surgery is gaining popularity nowadays despite being dangerous because of the misleading research and publicity by the obesity surgeons and associated drug industry.

For example some recent research are propogating benefits such as weight loss surgery can reverse the symptoms of fatty liver disease similarly other research says weight loss surgery not only benefits obese people to shed their body weight but it also causes early remission of type 2 diabetes.

The reality is that not only weight loss surgery is unnecessary but also it deprives people a normal life. Something which can be easily corrected by eating healthy food because our body is made up of food we eat in our day to day life. This industry is glamorising it so more and more people can go under knife.

In Bariatric surgery, a small pouch is made out of the stomach, so as to reduce the size of the stomach.  Surgeons use a simple logic that if the volume of the stomach is reduced, then people will eat less and lose weight.

By reducing the size of the stomach, surgery restrict the amount of food one can eat at a time and hence the patient feels  full after eating only around 30% of the food they have consumed earlier.

That means after weight loss surgery people would never be able to enjoy their food for the rest of their life on any special occasions and hence being deprived of their normal life.

Not only that, after surgery, complication are endless such as Hernia, Internal Bleeding, Swelling of the skin around the wounds, etc.

Even after surgery, patients have to continuously work to keep their food intake low and maintain a strict exercise schedule.

The point is if patient has to exercise regularly and eat less than what is the point of surgery in the first place because that can be done free and safely without going under the knife.

Yoga brings balance in nervous system fight stress and control depression

E-mail Print PDF

Summary: According to celebrity yoga trainer Subodh Gupta, regular practice of yoga brings balance in the nervous system, fight stress and control depression effectively.

Yoga Breathing

In today’s fast changing world everyone seems to be in a race, high adrenal activities and on constant alert. By the time one reaches forty years of age one feel burnt out.

We live in a sympathetic mode most of the time and our nervous system becomes overly stimulated. Prolonged stress responses result in suppression of our immune system and we become prone to infections and constipation. We suffer from asthma, allergies and hay fever. Our pH balance is affected so we live in a more acid state as our bodies cannot relax.

The sympathetic nervous system, commonly known as the "fight or flight" system, becomes more active when we are under constant stress, causing our breath rate to quicken, blood pressure to rise and stress hormones to flood into our body.

In order for our body to function optimally we need to have a balanced autonomic nervous system.
That means we have to switch to our parasympathetic nervous system, which lowers our blood pressure and slows down our breath.

Our parasympathetic nervous system controls smooth muscle contraction, regulates cardiac muscle, or stimulates glandular secretion and is known as "rest and digest" system. When we are in a parasympathetic mode our blood can freely travel to the digestive, immune, glandular and reproductive systems to restore balance and to heal the damage done during our stressful time.

Through daily practice of yoga we can bring equilibrium into our body and mind i.e. balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system and stress can be reduced.

Slow and deep yogic breathing encourages the actions of the parasympathetic nervous system and allows relaxation and healing to occur.

While practicing yoga we need to respect our own body, learn how to deal with stress, incorporate deep breathing into our daily life and we become physically and mentally healthy.

The yoga system includes practice of yoga poses (asanas), controlled deep and slow breathing (pranayama), relaxation, concentration, meditation and healthy eating.

Remember: Yoga is an excellent way to bring balance in our nervous system and to stay healthy forever.
